The classic failure is tendering on supply price alone. Builders who get burned once start asking for installed cost and a firm date, which is the right instinct.

The second is splitting supply and install across two parties. When one mob makes the boxes and another fits them, the gap between them is where blame lives. A reveal is wrong, a runner does not suit the drawer, a benchtop template is late, and each party points at the other while a unit sits idle.
