Up to about 300 mm of overhang, a decent benchtop carries itself off the carcass. Past that, something has to do the work, and the options step up with the projection. Steel flat brackets screwed to the carcass top under the benchtop are the standard fix, sized so they reach at least two-thirds of the way across the overhang.
