Kitchens in Whangaparaoa, Auckland | MTN Kitchens
23+ years in trade · 2,000+ kitchens supplied & installed across Auckland · Laminex NZ fabricator
Whangaparaoa is a fair run north of our East Tamaki workshop - a good hour up SH1 and over the Harbour Bridge - but we build kitchens for the peninsula regularly, and when you choose MTN Kitchens you are dealing with the people who actually make and install your kitchen, not a showroom that farms the job out to a subcontractor.
We have been manufacturing and installing kitchens for over 23 years, more than 2,000 of them, and because we run our own workshop and our own Site Safe install team, you get trade pricing without the showroom markup. The kitchen is cut, built and finished in East Tamaki, then trucked up the coast and installed by our own crew.
You can start for free with our online 3D designer, sketch out your layout and finishes, and we will have a firm quote back to you within 24 hours. Once you are ready to go, most kitchens are installed in 5 to 7 days.
What we do in Whangaparaoa
Opening up the 70s-90s beach homes at Manly and Stanmore Bay
A lot of the peninsula's older homes - through Manly, Stanmore Bay and Red Beach - were built in the 70s, 80s and 90s with a small, closed-off kitchen walled away from the living areas. We reconfigure these into open, practical layouts that make the most of the coastal light and connect the kitchen to the living and outdoor spaces.
Updating baches and weatherboard homes for the salt air
Plenty of the older weatherboard and brick-and-tile homes around Arkles Bay, Little Manly and Matakatia started life as baches and holiday homes. We replace tired cabinetry with durable, moisture-tough Laminex melteca and 2-pac finishes that stand up to a coastal, salt-air setting far better than the original chipboard.
Larger island kitchens for the sea-view homes
The bigger contemporary homes at Gulf Harbour, Tindalls Beach and up on the ridges are often built around the view. We design generous island kitchens with a butler's pantry or scullery tucked behind, so the main bench stays clean and the working mess is kept out of sight of the water.
Fitting out new coastal subdivision homes
With the ongoing subdivisions on the peninsula and the new-build growth feeding down from Millwater and Silverdale, we fit out plenty of brand-new homes. We work off your plans to build and install the kitchen at trade price, so you are not stuck paying a group-build company's markup on the standard fit-out.
Local context
Whangaparaoa runs the length of a narrow peninsula on the Hibiscus Coast, with Whangaparaoa Road as the spine and the bays strung out along both sides - Stanmore Bay, Manly, Red Beach, Arkles Bay, Tindalls Beach, Matakatia and Army Bay, out to Gulf Harbour and Shakespear Regional Park at the very tip. It is a real mix of housing eras, and no two streets are quite the same.
A big chunk of the stock is established beach homes from the 70s through to the 90s - brick-and-tile and weatherboard, plenty of them ex-baches that have been lived in year-round for decades. Their original kitchens are usually small, closed-in and well past their best, which is where most of our peninsula work comes from.
At the newer end you have the marina homes around Gulf Harbour, the larger view homes on the higher streets, and the coastal subdivisions that keep filling in, with the wider Millwater and Silverdale new-build boom just down the road. It means we are working on everything from a tidy bach renovation to a full contemporary fit-out, often in the same week.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Whangaparaoa and the rest of the peninsula?
Yes. We are based in East Tamaki and we cover the whole Whangaparaoa peninsula - Stanmore Bay, Manly, Red Beach, Arkles Bay, Tindalls Beach, Gulf Harbour and Army Bay - along with Orewa, Silverdale, Millwater and the wider Hibiscus Coast and Auckland.
Does being up the coast add to the cost?
No. Our pricing is the same trade price wherever you are in Auckland. The kitchen is made in East Tamaki and our own crew brings it up the coast and installs it - the extra distance does not go on your quote.
How long does the whole process take?
Once we have measured up and you have signed off the design, most kitchens are installed within 5 to 7 days. Before that, you can start for free in our online 3D designer and we will have a firm quote back to you within 24 hours.
How do you keep prices lower than a showroom?
We are the manufacturer and installer, not a middleman. We build every kitchen in our own East Tamaki workshop and fit it with our own Site Safe team, so there is no showroom markup and no subcontractor margin - you deal direct and pay trade price.
What benchtops and finishes can I choose from?
We are a Laminex NZ fabricator, so you have the full range of Laminex melteca and laminate, engineered stone benchtops, and durable 2-pac painted finishes. For coastal homes we steer you toward moisture-tough options that handle the salt air well.
Can I design my own kitchen before I commit?
Yes. Our free online 3D designer lets you lay out your kitchen, try different finishes and see how it looks before you spend anything. Send it through and we will turn it into a firm quote within 24 hours.
