Kitchens in Millwater, Auckland | MTN Kitchens

23+ years in trade · 2,000+ kitchens supplied & installed across Auckland · Laminex NZ fabricator

Millwater is up on the Hibiscus Coast, a good run north from our East Tamaki workshop, but we build and install kitchens there regularly and the drive up the Northern Motorway is part of the job for us, not a reason to hand it to someone else.

When you deal with MTN Kitchens you are dealing with the people who actually make your kitchen. We manufacture in our own workshop, we are a Laminex NZ fabricator, and our own Site Safe install team fits it. There is no showroom, no middle-man margin and no subcontractor you have never met - which is how we keep the price at trade level.

Send us your plans or the measurements of your existing kitchen and we will have a firm quote back to you inside 24 hours. Use our free online 3D designer to lay it out first if you want to see it before you commit. Once the design is signed off, most kitchens are made and installed within 5-7 days.

What we do in Millwater

Upgrading the first-wave Millwater builder kitchens

The earliest Millwater homes are now a decade or more old and plenty were fitted with a builder's standard kitchen at the time. We strip those out and replace them with better cabinetry, quieter soft-close hardware and a benchtop that suits the home, usually without touching the footprint so the job stays quick and clean.

Butler's pantries and sculleries for the larger homes

A lot of the bigger family homes through Millwater and Wainui have the space for a walk-in scullery behind the main kitchen. We design and build these as one job - the visible kitchen kept sharp for the open-plan living area, and a hard-working scullery behind it with the sink, dishwasher and mess out of sight.

Kitchens for brand-new homes on the newer subdivisions

Millwater is still growing, with new stages and house-and-land sections being released around the edges. If you are building, we make and fit the kitchen to your plans and can work in with your builder's timeline so it lands at the right stage of the build.

Opening up the kitchen into the living hub

Where an older layout still closes the kitchen off from the dining and family space, we reconfigure it into the open-plan hub these homes are designed around - a proper island, better bench run and storage that actually fits how the family uses the room.

Local context

Millwater is a master-planned community that has grown up quickly next to Silverdale, just off the Northern Motorway. Almost all of the housing is new - built from roughly 2012 onwards - so it is a very different stock to the older Auckland suburbs. These are group-builder and architectural family homes on tidy subdivided sections, most with open-plan kitchen, dining and living at the heart of the plan.

Because the homes are relatively young, the kitchens people want replaced or upgraded are usually the original builder's specification rather than something worn out. Owners tend to come to us wanting to move up from the standard finish - better benchtops, a bigger island, a scullery - rather than a full gut. That suits how we work, and it keeps the cost sensible.

Millwater flows straight into Wainui and Silverdale, and the wider Hibiscus Coast - Orewa, Red Beach, Stanmore Bay and out to Whangaparaoa - is all within a few minutes. It is a real drive north for us, but we cover the whole of Auckland and the Coast is a stretch we know well, so distance never changes the price of the kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Millwater and the rest of the Hibiscus Coast?

Yes. Millwater is a fair run north of our East Tamaki workshop, but we install there regularly and cover Wainui, Silverdale, Orewa, Red Beach, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa and the whole of the Hibiscus Coast, along with the rest of Auckland.

Our home is only a few years old - is it worth replacing the kitchen already?

Plenty of Millwater owners upgrade from the original builder's kitchen without the home being old. It is usually about better benchtops, a bigger island or adding a scullery. Because the layout is often already sound, these jobs can be quick and cost-effective.

Can you build the kitchen for a new home we are building in Millwater?

Yes. We make and fit kitchens for new builds to your plans and can work in with your builder's programme so the kitchen goes in at the right stage. Send us the plans and we will quote it within 24 hours.

How does the trade pricing actually work?

We manufacture in our own workshop, buy direct as a Laminex NZ fabricator and install with our own team. There is no showroom and no subcontractor margin, so you pay closer to trade cost than a retail showroom price for the same quality.

How long does the whole process take?

Once your design is signed off, most kitchens are made and installed within 5-7 days. The lead-up - design, quote and final measure - depends on how quickly things are locked in, but the quote itself comes back inside 24 hours.

Can we design our kitchen before committing?

Yes. Our free online 3D designer lets you lay out the kitchen and see it before you spend anything. When you are happy, send it through and we will turn it into a firm quote.
